Why this color matters

Three flat bands look easy, yet the red asks a question Russian law simply does not answer. The Kremlin's state-insignia guide says the law does not stipulate precise shades of blue and red. A maritime tricolour

The official guide traces equal white-blue-red stripes to vessels sailing under Peter the Great in 1693. The tricolour grew from maritime use, disappeared behind Soviet red, and flew over Russia again on 22 August 1991. The Federal Constitutional Law adopted on 25 December 2000 fixed three equal horizontal bands and a 2:3 ratio.

Popular keys make white purity, blue loyalty and red courage, strength or blood. Those readings are not part of the flag law. With neither an official symbolic key nor precise colour calibration, the legal design is fixed by order and geometry while meanings and screen values remain conventions. That is why #D52B1E can be the game's exact answer without pretending to be Russia's only lawful red.

The exact warm red

The target is #D52B1E: RGB 213/43/30, HSB 4°/86%/84%. At 4° it sits just on the warm side of pure red; green at 43 exceeds blue at 30, so it leans faintly toward orange rather than magenta. Its 86% saturation and 84% brightness make it a deep scarlet, not fire-engine #FF0000 or a cool crimson. Beside white and cool blue it appears brighter than it is, so memory commonly overshoots.

The exact twin hidden in the library

The pinned ru.svg and ca.svg both use exactly #D52B1E. Russia's bottom band and Canada's side bands therefore share one scoring answer despite unrelated histories and legal standards. Vietnam's #DA251D is a near-twin, Hungary's #D43516 is warmer, and Poland's #DC143C is cooler. One more detail from the official guide: private citizens may display the flag during family celebrations and hang it from balconies or at their dachas.
